Main topics of Forum Telecontrollo 2017

The economic growth of our country presents an important difference, compared to the growth of other industrialised economies. The digital transformation and subsequent recovery of productivity and competitiveness of our public and private system offer an opportunity to trigger a process of economic and occupational rebirth.

Starting from the experiences of technological companies that implement digital convergence, the Forum Telecontrollo will underscore the benefits of this approach in the various sectors, from the city to public utility networks and the manufacturing industry. Moreover, it will be proposed as a natural setting for discussions between industry, public and private operators and
other stakeholders, a place to debate on trends and priorities to be assigned to investments, a venue where ideas can converge to create new services and business opportunities. The memories selected will be divided into sessions, based on the macro sector the application, product or service presented is intended for.

Sessions will converge into three theme areas:


Despite their good standard of automation and remote monitoring, public utility networks, such as water, gas and electricity, are bound to progress guided by digitization. During this session, ideas will concern the best use of resources, whether water or energy, the concept of distributed generation and, hence, the integration of renewable sources, besides describing the benefits for Utilities related to digitisation processes. APPLICATION FRAMEWORKS:

  • electrical transmission and distribution networks and those related to the integration of renewable energy and distributed generation;
  • gas networks;
  • water networks;
    - the integrated water cycle, hence, captation, adduction and distribution of water resources for domestic, public, commercial, agricultural and industrial use, for sewage system and for purification;
    - irrigation and reclamation;
  • micro networks for citizens or for commercial or industrial use;
  • energy efficiency and reduction of emissions from plants and assets;
  • cloud computing and big data;
  • robotisation of processes;
  • data safety systems (cybersecurity), assets and plants, both corporate and personal.


The 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is also influencing and characterising the automation and remote monitoring industry. Data proliferation and the high degree of connectivity between things, people and services determine an exponential growth in monitoring and control technologies, which become crucial for the implementation of the concept of factory of the future. APPLICATION FRAMEWORKS:

  • corporate and personal safety systems (cybersecurity);
  • energy vector monitoring;
  • maintenance;
  • production processes;
  • cloud computing and big data.


The “intelligent” approach to the city by exploiting the modern technologies of the Internet of Things is the main theme of this session. The theme of the modernisation potential of real estate assets owned by the Public Administration is also important. APPLICATION FRAMEWORKS:

  • building automation, which includes, for instance, remote heating control and smart metering, as well as local solutions;
  • mobility, which includes Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and all traffic control and safety systems including those extra-urban;
  • waste collection;
  • public lighting;
  • environmental monitoring;
  • energy efficiency and reduced emissions;
  • aggregation models and service management.
